hello seniors and friends i need help, i landed in may 2011 as permanent resident and i was single , i went back to my country and got married to my girl friend, i was engaged to my girl friend since sept 2010, i want to sponsor her my spouse now, i did not notify vo about my engagent , will it be a problem.......

What country are the two of you from? And what exactly did the engagement consist of? If it was not something formal that might be construed to be a marriage, you should be fine.

thanks for the reply, we both come from india , i am hindu and she is a catholic, it was not a formal ceremony, was just a house party at her house in goa and we lived in together for 3 months before i came to canada, i got traditionally married in formal ceremony in feb 2012, any help thanks

u should b fine :) from Canada's point of view u were still single when u landed....they don't have "engaged" civil status and u were not married nor in common law (1 year of continous cohabitation)....the most important is that u didn't get married before u landed....like this, u r probably eligible to sponsor her and u can start preparing her application.....good luck!! :)
