Hi All,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on this. I got married last year and included my wife as a dependent on my Express Entry application. Our application got approved and we did our landing and became PR on 6. Mar 2016.
My wife is born and raised in UK and has British citizenship. Just last month (may 2016) my wife found out that she also has a Pakistani citizenship. It happened so that her brother was visiting and he mentioned this with regards to his US ESTA application and I was surprised to find out that as a matter of fact my wife also has a pakistani citizenship.
She had never dealt with Pakistani authorities herself, and never had a Pakistani passport, and personally never thought/knew that she was a pakistani citizen. However, her parents due to their Pakistani origin had applied for her Pakistani ID card when she was born, which implies that she has a Pakistani citizenship. However, they cannot locate the card nor the ID number anymore. My wife has used this card in past to travel to Pakistan with her parents - which was clearly identified by entry stamps in her passport and the copy of all stamped pages were provided to cic in the application.
My question is, does this count as misrepresentation. I think we should notify cic of this now to avoid any future complications. But what is the correct way of doing so and what might be the implication?
If we had known this before, this would have just been a additional line under the question to list your citizenships and would not have caused any issue for the application. And we did not hide this information on purpose.
Thanks all in advance!
