Hello to all of you fine folks. I have a question that has been plaguing me for several weeks now. I am a US citizen (located in US now) that will be moving to Vancouver for graduate school this summer. My partner (also a US citizen and located in US) is going to be moving with me under a Visitor Visa. She is employed by a US firm and is a remote worker and has been told that she will be allowed to continue working for the firm when we move.

Our question is whether she needs an Open Work Permit or not. Our initial thought is that she will not need one based on the fact that she is not working for a Canadian firm. If someone could please help me in the right direction on this query that would be wonderful.

Thank you!
Justin

Get an open work permit - it will make your lives far easier. As a visitor, she's not allowed to live in Canada - which is what she wants to do. She could run into issues entering Canada or being able to extend her stay in Canada if she's going to attempt to live in Canada as a visitor.
