Hi there friends,

I am in common-law relationship and recently added my partner as a beneficiary of my life insurance, so I can use it for a common-law relationship proof for our PR application.

After this update, when I received the insurance summary, I found that it shows my dependent status as 'Single'

I am wondering what 'dependent status' means in terms of a life insurance in Canada... Does it include my spouse or common-law partner? or does it only include any dependent children?

I do not have any children.

I am just confused if it will be okay to submit this summary for our relationship proof?

My partner is included in the Beneficiary Nomination, though.

You'll have to ask your insurance company. This is one of their data fields so you'll need to find out how they define it and if you need to change it.
