Hey everyone,

My common law partner and I applied for PR, him as a principal applicant and me as a dependent on his application last June.
I was on a working visa for 2 years and I am now on a tourist visa. My visa expires this January and therefore I want to know what are my options.

I seem to read that, as I am already in the country and applied inland, I should be able to stay with my common law partner while we wait for our PR. Do you have a clear rule about that?
Should I just apply for a tourist visa extension online?
If it was refused, what are my possibilities?

I'm super confused as I seem to read that as an inland applicant, if I was to leave the country and not be able to come back my application would therefore be invalidated.

Help a girl out, I'm getting dizzy.

Thanks!

Hi

Applying for PR does not grant any form of status in Canada. If you do nothing before your current status expires in January, you will be in Canada illegally after that. Apply for an extension of your visitor status in December. Provided you show proof of the PR app and proof of sufficient funds to cover your extended stay, you should have no issues.
