Do you know if you can sponsor a dependent 18 year child, inside Canada, with a Visitor Visa?

What happen if the visa expire, could she remain in the country during the entire Process?

What advantages (if any) of applying outland Canada?

Thank you seniors,

I think, once a child reaches the age of 18, s/he has to start her/his own immigration process.

One of my former colleague's parents immigrated to Canada years ago, but she was now in her 20s and could not be sponsored.

You can sponsor her as a dependent child until she turns 19 as long as she is not married or in a common law partnership. Make sure that the application is complete and that immigration receives it before her 19th birthday. Otherwise it will be too late and she must qualify on her own.

The PR application is unrelated to her visitor status. She can visit if she has a visitor visa. If she wants to stay longer than 6 months, she should apply to extend her visitor status before it expires.

There is no such thing as an INLAND app for a dependent child. All PR apps for children must be processed as OUTLAND apps only, even if the child is already in Canada.

So if the visa expires while she's in Canada and she doesn't apply to extend her status, she would be here illegally. You need to keep applying to extend status as often as needed during the PR processing time.

Thank you for your help, I thought that once her application were received, she would have automatically an imply status, during the entire PR process.

and I didn't know that inland application is not valid for dependent child, I would like to double check this.

There is no inland application process for dependent children. Only outland. You will have to continue extending your dependent child's status in Canada to keep her status valid while the application is being processed.
