Hi, My wife and l landed two years ago but we have only stayed in Canada for about two months. We got a baby outside Canada soon after we landed. We are planning to start living in Canada next summer but I am not sure how to get my kid permanent residence and how long it may take.

Appreciate your inputs.

You can only apply for your child's PR from within Canada. Processing will take around six months and you must remain in Canada during that time. Additionally, you have to make sure you meet the residency requirement at the time you apply to sponsor your child.

You can try applying for a TRV to bring your child with you to Canada and apply for PR once you are all in Canada. If the TRV is refused you can try applying for a TRP. If the TRP is also refused then one of you will have to travel to Canada ahead of the rest of the family to submit the PR application and live there while PR is processed.
