Hi all,

I have a DELTA qualification and was wondering if this is currently something that would be needed within Canada. I see teaching is, TEFL isn't, but mine falls somewhere in between.

Failing that, is it likely that the UK working holiday entry may be increased to 35? I am just turning 33 and know many countries are allowed up until 35 so am hoping this may change.

Many thanks!

I think the age for the IEC program is unlikely to change given the UK program is already oversubscribed.

In order to work as a teacher in Canada, you would first need to secure a full time job offer and approved LMIA. This tends to be extremely difficult to do since Canada has more teachers than jobs and one of the requirements of obtaining an LMIA is to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Having said that, you can certainly try. Good luck.

if you are prepared to work in very remote areas, you will not be able to secure a full time teaching job. Most school boards require you to work a minimum of a year on their supply list before you are eligible to apply for longer term contracts. Canada seems to be one of the only countries in the world with a surplus of teachers.
