I am writing this in hopes of finding some course of action

My wife is a British Citizen; I have sponsored her under the Family Class. We have been waiting since Feb 2008. We redid her application in 2009 because the New Brunswick Government changed the application standards and request she re-submit. We sent Medical Examines and Police certificates of both here and her son of 19 at the time. He was still living in England and going into the Royal Marines. Since then they have requested his medical and police certificated three times, each time we send then, registered post they keep "losing" them. They do not post any thing on her web site nor did they contact here the last time they "lost" his medical.
We now have a representative from the New Brunswick Provincial Government that is suppose to be helping.

The last time we contacted Canadian Immigration in April of 2011 they informed us that every thing had passed and a decision had been made and that she would get her letter for an interview in August of that year, in November after trying to contact Canadian Immigration we went to Keith Ashfields office for help. It was then in January of 2012 when they told us Canadian Immigration had "lost" here sons medical and police certificates again and wants them done over.

We then informed them that her son, who is now a Royal Marine, was deployed in Afghanistan and could not be contacted for at least 4 to 6 months for these documents. That was when they suggested we remove him from her application as he now is 23.

We were told by Ashfeilds office on Tuesday April 10 2012 that they had been in contact with Canadian Immigration and that my wife’s son had been removed form her application and since she has already been passed they had sent out a letter to confirm this and then tell her were she was to go for her interview.

We just received a letter on April 12 2012 saying that they received our letter in February and had removed her son from her application but now want her to re-take her medical again since it's been more than a year since her last before they go any further with her application!!!!!!.

You can just see it coming:

1. She re-does the medical - process time 6 months
2. They contact her for a new police certificate because her old one is more than a year
old - process time 6 months
3. They contact her again - Oh wait a minute your medical is over a year old please re-
summit!!!!!!!!

Besides getting a lawyer what else can I do or do I just sit in the middle and suck on it?

Bast$#ds!

If it were me, and they had me waiting for such a long time because of their stupidity, I'd lawyer up...

You can not get a lawyer since it has been the norm in many cases (there are countries-more than one-that take more than a year to process. They also have it on their site they would request documents that are expired...
The only thing we can do is stick together, file petition, have a group attorney, speak to MP's not as individual cases,...etc

See How many countries that take more than 12months (according to my countring 23 countries)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp
which means 1000's of applicants

Do another medical and another police certificate at the same time. Stay one step ahead of them. But I don't think the medical takes six months to process. People get their PR in three months.

Yes we are applying for both, I am just fustrated that we keep going over and over and over the same thing. They tell us one thing then send letters saying some thing completely different.

My last tally since 2008 we have over $10,000.00 tied up in this through medicals, police checks, trips to the visa office to get here visa restamped or checks done.

That's another thing when we travel it's a bloody night mare. We had an 2 1/2 hr interview coming back into Canada last year because of this. Her last visit to the visa office in Woodstock they required her to go into the States and come back through their security inorder to get a 6 month extension, they said it was a new law. Becasue the Americans were not familar with this at the time they gave her a stamp saying she was refused entry into the USA!!! So of coarse she's terrified if we ever have to go through US Customs again. We now plan all our trips around not going into the States.
