Dear friends,

I need your help. I have availed the Immigrant visa to Canada along with my family on July 16th 2011. Strangely PR card of my wife was only received. Myself and my daughter did not receive the PR card. Due to some commitments and obligations we returned on 24th July 2011. At this point of time, I am winding up and entering into Canada and hence I have applied for the Travel document on 7th July 2014. However there is no revert till date from the embassy about the travel document. In case if there is delay in getting the travel document from the embassy, do I lose the PR status ? What do you suggest the best way out of this situation? Pls advise.

My guess is that CIC is verifying your compliance with the residency obligation before issuing the TD. I think you took an extremely big risk remaining outside of Canada for almost three years before applying for the TD.

Are you from a non-visa exempt country?

Hi Scylla, what do you suggest me to do? Will they consider it if the travel document date exceeds the time limit ?

It seems you have been out of Canada more than 1095 days which might result in refusal of PRTD and you may have to file an appeal to gain entry into canada.

Visa office probably thinking the same thing I am thinking... This guy left 3 years ago without a PR card, never bothered to follow up why he didnt get one then couple weeks before his 3 years he applies for TD... lets just put his application on the side until 3 years have passed then just refuse him. You arent going to like this either: you cant appeal, you have been away for more than a year!

Did u apply via VFS?
