I am a nursing assistant in acute general medicine and have been offered sponsorship from my employer to do a full 4 year nursing degree.

I am currently 1 year though a BSc in Health science, 2 years left to go.

Is it worth delaying my plans to immigrate a further 2 years or will either degree be of use if/when I am approved?

Ideally, take the sponsorship from your employer and enrol a nursing program in Canada. This way you might be eligible for immigration. And you won't delay your plans of immigration to Canada nor worrying the program cannot be use in Canada.

Thank you for the response.

Thats what I was thinking.
I had been reading accounts from people online who have made the move one way or the other and there seemed to be quite a difference between the responsibilities of nurses and had wondered if the training from here was worth the time if I would only have to repeat it or do a completely different degree anyway, and instead finish my BSc and then register for a nursing programme in Canada.

I am still waiting on the details from my employer on how long I will be 'tied' to them in exchange for paying for my training and whether or not I am required to reimburse them if I leave early.
