Defer intake on arrival

My friend is planning to defer his intake from may to sep'16. He is planning to enrol in a new course in september as the same course is not available in may intake. Does this create any problem on his study permit?

1, If your friend arrives for the May semester and doesn't attend, his study permit will be considered invalid after 90 days of non attendance,
