Hello everyone,

I have 451 points (completely unexpected; I had calculated the score and thought it would be 426), therefore I got my ITA on Friday out of the blue.

However, after I reviewed my application carefully, I found a few mistakes:
-I indicated the wrong town in my Work History in my primary occupation (actually, as I was working from home, I automatically indicated the town I was in when I was doing the job, however now I see they apparently meant the town where the company was legally registered, which is the same region, but in a different town)
-I misspelled one of my jobs (put "Chie" instead of "Chief" (idiot!!!)

Everything else seems to be ok. This doesn't affect my score, but may be a misrepresentation. Do I have to decline?.. :'(

If so, will I be able to get straight back to the pool? Should I delete this and the matching Job Bank profiles and create new ones?

Hello Liara, The mistakes you have mentioned can be corrected in the final submission because these are just anomalies in data entry; But, could you please tell me that which factor is lowering down your score from 451 to 426 ? Education, Age, Work experience tenure , English Language Proficiency ?

Points inconsistency may lead to a rejection so you have to be sure that your points are either equal to or greater at the time of application submission :)

Thank you! Such a relief!
For some reason I had missed the fact that my education points would double in the Skill Transferability section (I have an IELTS score of 9.0). But then I saw the error in my way of calculation. I am not particularly attentive, am I? :D

So, one gets to enter the data all over again in the application for permanent residency after paying the fees, right?

Yes, it does double and you get an extra 50 points in Skill Transferability section :)

Are you a native citizen of an english speaking country ? a score of 9.0 is a bulls eye :)

and Yes indeed, once you get an ITA? your previously entered EE profile data becomes meaning less and all that matters is the data which you put into your PR application :)

Nope, I am a linguist from Russia (Russian is my first language). However, I'm applying as an accountant ;D Speaking of which, I have one more eensy teensy (or maybe not) issue with my application.

When I was asked to fill in the date I became qualified to act as an accountant [see link to the prtnscr image] I indicated the date I graduated from high school (since NOC didn't specify anything on the account of "Financial auditors and accountants", as far as I could see). The truth is, my master's in theoretical and applied linguistics doesn't match my exprience (accountant), so I was never properly qualified. Was that the right thing to do? Or should I have entered the date I graduated from Uni? Can that render me ineligible?..

why you specifically applying for accountant position? do you have accounting experience or a degree in accounting?

You have to enter the year in which you qualified for practicing the chosen NOC :)

Accounting is my "primary occupation" b/c my other jobs lasted for less than a year, which is pathetic, but either accounting or no Express Entry for me anytime soon :(
I don't have a degree in accounting, just experience.
As far as I know, the education doesn't necessarily have to match the experience, does it?

I guess I'll look for a lawyer to clarify this specific issue.

I guess it does, but you can clarify this issue from any authentic lawyer which you think can make your way through :) Goodluck !

Thank you, you have been most helful!

BTW, have you entered Canada under EE?

Your education doesn't need to match your experience however since your Master's was in linguistics use the date you completed your BSc if your Bachelor's was in a field related to accounting. If it wasn't then use the date you graduated high school. This question isn't important by the way so you're fine.

What you can do is this; use your high school graduation date as the date you became qualified to be an accountant and then provide your high school results as part of your education documents package to show that your did infact take accounting as a course.

You may want to consult a lawyer but this might be helpful too. Giving more information only helps your case and this information is relevant to your situation.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

These are not considered mis-representation. You can just write a letter of explanation indicating your mistakes and highlighting that your score is not affected by these mistakes.
I am sure that VOs are not that stupid to make this a misrepresentation.

DON'T WASTE YOUR ITA.

Your education does not have to match your experience. BUT there are some forms of accounting - the best paid ones - for which you have to have a license, and have to pass a certification exam. You would do well to look up what those requirements are in Canada. They will not affect your PR application but could impact your life in Canada, as you could potentially end up working at a lower level than expected while you get certified and licensed.

The rest of your apprehensions concerning misspelled words or towns are groundless. Remember that you can apply and then decide you don't want to live in Canada. You can get PR, land, and then go home for up to 3 years to arrange things to your liking before you start your life here.

I am convinced that so many people getting ITAs and then rejecting them for one small ground or another is really a symptom of fear over emigrating to an unknown place and life. But applying leaves plenty of time to get used to the idea of moving to Canada, plenty of time to arrange your life, and even time to decide not to do it.

Thank you! I thought about it too. Maybe it's best to get a notarized translation of my school leaving certificate.
