Greetings everybody!.
I applied for Spousal Sponsorship from within Canada class. I am waiting for the Scarborough office to contact me for the Confirmation of Permanent Residence appointment (and payment of the landing fees)... any idea anyone from your experience how long it's gonna take for me to be contacted by them?. I received the letter from Vegreville telling me my application process has been finished on August 23...
Here's my current timeline (as it reads on e-cas):

We received your application for permanent residence on October 5, 2009.

Hi there!. In the letter from Vegreville there is no mention of any interview at all. It's my impression I won't need one. It only states landing fee needs to be paid when I attend the Confirmation for Permanent Residence appointment which is the one I'm waiting for from the Scarborough office, bring original ID also. If there is a need for an interview, I understand they send you in writing the time and date of such interview...

Yaayy!!. thats good news than!!. Happy for you!!.

Sounds like the letter I had before landing. Does it state your sponsor is to be with you at the time? And did you get your AIP letter too?

If so, its the landing....no interview...takes about an hour and that's it. Between my landing letter and landing date it was less than 4 weeks but that was Vancouver. CIC informed us at the time, it could take up to 12 weeks depending on the back log at the local office.

This is the letter I received after Decision Made from Vegreville... currently waiting for the local office letter (Scarborough) for the COPR appointment:

This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.

We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The CIC in Scarborough will contact you concerning your PR status.

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $490 is required before you can become a PR of Canada. To date this fee has not been paid and the confirmation of permanent residence document will not be issued until payment is made. Please be prepared to submit the total fee to the CIC in Scarborough when you are scheduled to obtain your COPR document. Do not send the fee to CPC Vegreville.

Please note: At the time fo your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will be required to present the original ID document(s) to the CIC. A final decision concerning the granting of PR status will be made at that time. If PR is granted, the name that will apppear on the COPR document is your name as it appears on your passport or ID documents.

You could try sending them a fax if you need an urgent appointment (no guarantees)....

Thank you, Siouxie... I think all I need is to continue to have patience and wait 'til the letter comes. I'm sure this office must be uber-busy serving Toronto east... but will keep these numbers handy as the days go by and still no letter.

I believe they are one of the busiest offices, sigh... from a quick online search, most people appear to get a letter from Scarborough around 4-5 weeks after the approval letter from Vegreville with appointments for interviews approximately a month later.

::)

Indeed... letter from Vegreville delivered on August 27... getting closer to time-frame.
How was your landing?... Did you get that Examination interview everybody appears to be having at the COPR appointment?.
Regards.

I was very fortunate..

When I got my letter my son's medical was about to expire (long story, lol) and as I had to land before he could be issued his visa I sent a fax on the Friday afternoon to the local office asking (very politely) if there was any possibility of having my appointment expedited and the reasons why.

I received a phone call on the Tuesday from the IO inviting my sponsor and I to attend a Landing "Interview" that afternoon!

I attended the appointment and met with my very friendly IO. We hadn't paid the RPLF so she took my husband through to pay it, then came back to the private office with him. She took my passport and then produced the COPR form.

She went through the COPR form with me and asked the following questions..

1) Had anything changed since the application (was I still living with my sponsor / divorced / additional family member etc)
2) Had I been arrested or convicted of any crime
3) Apart from the person indicated as a dependant on the form, was there anyone missing from it
4) What colour were my eyes
5) Were the other details (address / name / date of birth etc) correct
6) What was the carrier and flight number that I arrived in Canada on

Then I initialled where indicated, and signed inside the box. She stapled the COPR to my passport and told me to keep it safe (as you need it to gain Citizenship and proof of residency for pensions etc)., and then handed it to me.

My IO was lovely, joking and laughing with us both... it was a really pleasant experience.

At the end, she said "welcome to Canada" and shook our hands, then gave me a welcome pack.

:D

Edit: After the interview had ended, the IO said that she would contact London to notify them to issue my sons visa, true to her word I received an email the next morning from London asking for my son to send his passport.

lol, no.

I landed at the Hamilton office :D

My IO was really attentive and made us both feel very at ease, she was simply lovely!

We were worried when we first arrived as there was a huge cue of people and it was a "by the numbers", whilst we got there 15 minutes early the time ticked past my appointment time and I was panicking! My IO saw me waiting and said "Mrs xxxxxx?" and invited me into the office at the side (I am not sure how she knew it was me amongst all those people).

I think I had the biggest grin on my face when we left and my husband took my photo outside the CIC office complete with my "Welcome to Canada" pack!

;D

Re: Decision Made, what's next?

I wanna move to Hamilton and get your IO, Siouxie!.
It must be one of the best feelings to come out of there with your COPR and move on with your lives... So looking forward to that ourselves and the rest of us in the forum...
Patience and perserverance does it, I suppose.
Congrats and Cheers, Siouxie!.

Thanks!

I know how hard it is to wait ... we waited almost 5 years to gain PR. From date of application received to my son landing was 5 years and 10 days exactly! (he landed 3 weeks after getting his visa, 2 weeks before his meds expired).

Have patience.. it will happen soon :D

Take care and I will keep my fingers crossed you hear something in the next week.

:)

Thank you and be well!. Real glad to hear your family is trully reunited now... that is the essence of Immigration Canada according to their own words.

robrob, any updates on your landing appointment letter?... I'm also waiting for such letter, 3 weeks now... what happens then?
