Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I originally came to Canada on a 10 month work permit, which I extended for 6 additional months. I am in Canada now and my husband and I have submitted our outland PR application (submitted in October and in process since mid-November). I am getting ready to submit my request for a visitor extension so I can stay in Canada during our PR processing (I hope) beyond the point at which my work permit expires.

The thing is...I am not sure how long to request on the visitor extension since we, of course, have no idea how long it will take until we have a decision and I would like to stay here while we wait it out. My first thought was to ask for a year but then I thought maybe I should only ask for 6 months. Or maybe leave it blank, though I am not sure if the online form will allow a blank there? And if somebody asks for a year and they don't want to allow such a long time, will they approve less time than requested or just deny the whole request? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Ask for what you want.

If you request six months you can always apply for another extension.

Ask for one year. From what I read it is fairly normal to ask and get it.

Thanks for the feedback! I will probably go ahead and ask for a year to avoid potentially having to pay another processing fee to extend again (if I only ask 6 months and don't have a PR decision by then.)

I would definitley ask for a year. If anything they will give you the 6 months :) We had asked for 6 months and they gave us a year. Who knows how CIC thinks :

The same thing happened to me. I asked for 6 months and got a year. :)
