Hi all,
New to this Forum so please be gentle....

My dad lives on PEI and is a fully fledged Canadian Citizen.

I (and my family) would really love to come out there and join them, to work and to settle.

I have passed the IELTS with a score or 8 and am fully CRB cleared, I am 46 years old and have a Electrical engineering degree (not yet certified by Canadian standards).

As you can appreciate I have done SOME homework on the how to immigrate (Express entry etc) but just wondered if there was anything else I could try, short of just turning up at the border and seeking refugee status.....

I would love to be a Canadian in 5 years time......that is the goal and the plan.....now I just need the

There are no shortcuts. You can try for PEI Provincial Nomination but that is only another flavour of economic immigration. You either are eligible, or you are not. Your family is of some benefit to you but not a lot. They can't sponsor you as family members for example.

I assume your dad got citizenship sometime after you were born?

As mentioned you will need to have education and skilled work experience to qualify for an invitation to apply for PR just like everyone else, through PNP, Express Entry etc, Having family in Canada will get you a few more points at least.

Hope you are joking about the refugee part. Using that to try and get PR status when you aren't really a refugee would just end in a denied claim, deportation from Canada, and never being allowed to return again as a visitor.
