Hi everyone,

Appreciate if I can be assisted/advised on my case.

I just received an urgent request for passport email, when I'm here in Canada visiting my husband. I have a temporary resident visa.

In the email, I was told to comply with the requirements within 15 days.

Step 1 of the email says that I have to inform the visa office with any change in my circumstances, including change in contact information. So I emailed now the visa office telling them that I'm currently visiting my husband in Canada, provided them with our Canadian address and that I plan to follow their instructions of sending the passport in CPC-Ottawa. I also inquired if I can do my landing procedures at one of their CIC offices here.

I received an auto generated email acknowledging receipt of my email, and that the email will be reviewed within their processing time of 28 days.

As my passport request says urgent, can I just send my passport in CPC-Ottawa, even if the visa office has not yet officially responded to my email? Just worried that since their response time is 28 days, I may not be able to receive their response soon when I need to complete the passport procedures in 15 days.

Likewise, can I really do the landing here in Canada? I'm NOT from a visa-exempt country.

Thank you so much for anyone who can advise me.

no you can't just send your passport to ottawa. it is highly likely it will get lost that way.

did you send a case specific inquiry? i'd recommend sending one to be sure the information gets to them. also, you can have your husband contact his MP to help with the time line issue.

Again, do not do anything with your passport unless instructed. just sending your passport blindly to an immigration office in canada is not something you want to do.

yes, you can make an appointment to land at a local office, however it can take weeks to get one. if you are close to a us land border, you can "flagpole". you wouldn't need to enter the us, you would be turned around and given an "administrative refusal". this will not have any impact on future us visas.
