File Transfer...
Feb 2011 (New AOR on May 6)
I'm so happy to have found this wonderful site.

I recently applied for CSQ from the US. I got a letter from Montreal requesting a copy of valid US visa, but my visa recently expired. They said that if I cannot provide proof of temporary stay in the US, then they will transfer my file to the BIQ office serving my country of citizenship, which is Paris.

Has anyone gone through this before? What is your advice?

Heeelpppppppppppppp!!!!!! :-[

hey montreal789

for those in the same situation what happened next? did they re-route your stuff?

Hi,

Sorry, I just saw your message. Montreal transferred my file to Paris and is currently under review.

I'm glad that Paris accepted my file. I believe this situation happens to a lot of people. I would have saved a lot of time if I directly sent my file to Paris, but the requirements/proof of temporary stay were very unclear to me when I first applied. I thought that Quebec would have no problem processing my file.

However, it will still work in my favor when I receive my CSQ because I'll still be able to do the federal process through Buffalo.

This reply may be coming a bit late but i hope it helps in some way if you haven't sorted your issue out. First and foremost, most countries hate it when you are staying in their country without a valid visa. I am sure you know that it can mess up your chances of getting your residency. so if you havent yet renewed your visa, do it like......yesterday. Now once that is done, then the rest should be easy. if you dont have a valid visa in the US, you are better off going back to your own country and applying for the csq through paris. Sorry but i hope this helps

How long was the delay when you had your file transferred?

Did they assign you a new file number?
