Hi,

I am currently working in Montreal on temporary work permit. My Spouse and child are Canadian Citizen's. My question is if my spouse who is not working currently can sponsor me for the CSQ and later PR. If yes, what is the process to go about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

She doesn't have to go for CSQ in particular. She can put in a regular sponsorship application and they will take care of the CSQ for her as a part of the package. And yeah, she doesn't have to be working to sponsor you. Start here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

Hi Leon,

Thanks for the information. Can you please also tell what are average processing times from inland canada/montreal for the Spousal Sponsorship for PR?

You can see average processing times here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

Sometimes outland is faster than inland. You are allowed to apply outland even if you live in Canada.

As a spouse and in Québec province, your sponsor doesn't need to meet financial requirements.
If you start with the federal application, you'll automatically receive a letter to request the QSC (can't get it without this letter anyway) for the procedure.

Cheers!
Jurjen

Thanks Jurjen:)

Hello there,
Just want to add that even if the financial requirement doesn't apply here, the sponsor shouldn't be receiving any type of gvmt assistance (other than for disability). So if the sponsor is indeed a recipient of let say welfare, the application would be denied.

does that include child allowance in terms of assistance from govt ??
