Is it worth applying? I spoke to my immigration solicitor and he seems to think it is but may take 10 months. Historically in 2018 and 2017 there were only 3 instances where it dropped below the 420-450 and it plumeted to 285 for some reason.

I now have the choice of applying now and taking pot luck, or applying in August when my CRS score becomes 413 and/or get my canadian brother to live in canada for the maximum score i can get of 428, however he can’t support himself there in Toronto without me and I can’t work if i go. Even so those extra points don’t get me the average crs score anyway.

Any suggestions? I’ve gone through such a long process and i feel disheartened I’ll never get to Canada.

Hi

Other suggestion to improve your scores via language marks.

Iand it plumeted to 285 for some reason.

This wasn't for Federal Skilled Workers - only for the Federal Skilled Trades stream.

I don't believe CRS cut-off ever went down that low for FSW.
You should explore PNP routes. Indeed, as long as you're eligible at least for one Express Entry program (FSW, CEC, FST), you can be eligible for a bunch of PNP streams.
Check each provinces website and check them out.

Also, are you sure you gave it your best shot in language tests? There are some serious bonus points for CLB9 and above... Many applicants just aim for the minimum to be eligible. Language is one of the most overlooked criteria when short on points.

Then i don’t know why the lawyer would tell me to apply as it would be a waste of time and my money, a lot of money.

I don’t quite understand the PNP, the CRS calculator gives me useful points for a skilled job offer in Canada yet PNP said you can get hundreds more points. Is that becasue youre committing to staying in that province? (Living and working?) i think that’s my only avenue forward if i have understood this correctly. My problem is i don’t know how difficult it would be for the employer to demonstrate they need a foreign worker. After all, its a mortgage job i do.

I have a near perfect score, i can gain a mere 7 extra CRS points with a perfect score. I just did the PNP and it boosted me to nearly 1000 points..

How on earth do i get a PNP

No it wouldn't be a waste of money. You won't be required to pay the fees until you receive ITA and actually apply. I think what he meant was to just submit an Express Entry profile. (But of course some other fees come into play, like education assessement, IELTS, etc...)

PNP is provincial nomination. After submitting your express entry profile, if you're eligible for a provincial nomination program, the province will send you a "Notification of Interest". You apply for it, and if you're approved, you receive what is called a provincial nomination, and automatically gives you 600 points!

It's not because you're committing to stay there (although Yes you have to show that intention), but it's because the federal government gives a lot of points to candidates who potentially will contribute to the development of that province, if that province says you're a great candidate.

If you have already tried other straight forward means of improving your CRS, like for example better language scores, a higher diploma, or more work experience, then yes PNP is your other reliable way.

Not all PNP streams require a job offer! Some are based just on language. Ontario for example, has a stream for French speaking candidates. It's designed to close the language gap with its intense French speaking neighbour, Québec. Other streams are also available if your NOC is in the list of in-demand occupations, even without job offer. My advice would be to check all streams for all provinces.

Do note however, that in order to be eligible for any of those streams, you have to be also eligible for at least one Express Entry Program, FSW/CEC/FST.

Thanks so much for your reply, i really appreciate it.
I want to move to Ontario, so the process forward is to submit the express profile (which i assume is different to the skilled worker profile?) i then must wait to see if i get a notification of interest? How long does that usually take?

Sadly i cannot speaks French so my only way forard is the PNP, but would they really find a mortgage person ‘useful’. Are they not looking for specifics like nurses, doctors etc. I just want to be sure that doing an express profile instead of a skilled worker is the best way forward for me.

I’ve checked it for Ontario, i’d have to have a job offer as i don’t meet the other critieria. Which order do i do this in? Job offer then submit a profile and wait for the notification of interest or profile first

Submit the profile first, because well you really never know...
You would die of grief if you don't submit your profile and later find out the score actually dropped a lot! :D However unlikely. It doesn't cost you anything, although if you didn't take language tests or did your ECA, you'll have to enter dummy info in those fields. But it's okay you can change them later.

Profile will remain in the pool for 1 year, after which you'll have to submit it again.

Then go on your job hunt!

Thank you, i feel a lot more positive now, i was feeling almost depressed by this process. One year ago an immigration lawyer told me he would get me to canada butit would take another year or so. I needed to do a second year in qualified work, i did that, worked hard on IELTS and got a good score and got my education certified. I then make contact and he only then says my CRS is low....he should have advised me of this, it’s irritating.

Atleast now i know i need to find a skilled job that i’ve worked before and can hopefully then get that nomination. Thanks again!

You're welcome. But do explore all ways of increasing CRS in the meantime.
Can you wait till you have more work xp?

Thank you - yes right now I’m at 2-3 years experience, in august i’ll complete my third year so will ammend to 3-4 and boost to 412 CRS.

However i will achieve that score by getting a job offer, so i thought I mayas well search now then can ammend to ‘have offer of employment’.
I wasn’t sure what order i do it though, like get the job then ammend my application....then what? Wait for someone to find me and send a PNP...then surely my emoloyer will be blred of waiting for a pnp? Or so i have to directly apply for a pnp when i habe the job offer?

Im so confused...
