Hi All,

I am 37 year married Indian resident with NOC 2174.
I got 7.5 Band in IELTS and awaiting ECA report.

I have over 9 years experience in IT (software) and worked for 1.8 years in Toronto in 2011(missed CEC :'( )

CRS tool gives me 446 without spouse accompanying. With spouse 430.

Will it make the cut or get pnp nomination ?

PNP you will need to check, different provinces have different requirements.
430 wont cut it for now... 446 is quite good (current trending score is 453)

i would suggest you try writing ielts again and improving your scores... IELTS has a huge impact. you should aim for

L - 8
R - 7
W - 7
S - 7

anything below this in any of the modules will effect your score significantly...

446 is ok... you may get lucky in the next few draws.. But are you willing to go without your wife and then sponsor her later on?

If not then you're options are:
- Improve your IELTS score (aim for CLB 9)
- Get wife to take IELTS
- Get wife to do ECA

Unless you wife has poor english and has no higher education, she can quite easily add 16 points to your profile. A Bach degree plus CLB 7 in IELTS will give you another 20 points taking you to 450, which will get you an ITA sooner!

Thanks thestunner316

My IELTS score - 7.5
L - 7.5
R - 7
W - 6
S - 8.5
Writing I am losing due to my handwriting :'(, 1st attempt I got only 5.5 in W

I am expecting ECA I should be getting anytime this week (applied ECA 10th Jan)

Post floating in EE profile , will write again IELTS.

Thanks @g126

My wife is holding Post grad degree and fair in english. We have 3 year old son and its hard for her to write the test.

I was planning to get her once I arrive in Canada with proper job settlement.

Just wait for OINP to reopen, may be you are Invited. They will not alter their requirement of 400 CRS looking to present scenario.

even if you improve listening to 8, it will make a huge difference... same with writing.

But i think if your wife writes IELTS and does her WES, it will add valuable points... IELTS is not that difficult, even 2-3 points could be the difference between getting ITA or not...
anyway you are the best judge :) so do whatever you feel is best for you :)

cheers

Then your best, albeit more expensive, option is to get your wife to sit IELTS and have her postgrad degree evaluated for ECA, that way you'll probably get another 20 easy points!

Bestofluck's suggestion is Ontario's PNP, is good, but expensive ($1500 CAD) and lengthy if you look at last year's candidates some got their nomination in 9 months and other are still waiting (14 months and counting) so to me this is a last option kind of like if you maxed out at 430 and can not get any more points, which I don't think it's your case going by the fact you can still get points for your wife.

Now, about leaving her behind and bringing her only once you're established there... That's also a good option, but to do that you don't have to leave her out of your profile, in fact if you get her a PR now that will be one less headache (and probably cheaper) than sponsoring her later on... If you say she's going with you now you can still go first and take her later on (she'll need to land with you to get the PR card, but then she can return).

If you can make it without a PNP go for it and do whatever it takes so that it works in your favour. PNP is a lengthy process and it depends on how long you are willing to wait.

Explore all options, noone knows when OINP will re-open, and if the requirements will change or stay the same as last year. Go for all avenues that you qualify for, and give yourself more chances, as none of them are guaranteed.

No, you can't... You have to say you're married (otherwise you'll risk misrepresentation and a 5 year ban) and you have to put in you spouse's details. You'll also have to get PCC for you spouse and medicals.

What you can do is say that you're NOT taking your spouse, this will mean that if your application is approved ONLY you will get PR and not you spouse. The only advantage of doing this is that your CRS points will not be influenced by your spouse.

I am missing here information about your Education level.
When I did simulation with this and using Master for education, but no points from spouse (as you did not specify, that you have her ECA or language test, I ended up on 420 for you as married.
Furthermore, in your case the points difference for better IELS results will be much less significant. The way you are, you have already achieved 100 points for transferability. So better IELTS will bring you 10 to 20 points max (of course under condition that you do score better).
So that alone tells you, that you need your spouse ECA and language test.
What I do not understand is the reason of not being able to take 1 day test because she has child. Sorry, but if you want to immigrate, you will surely find a solution for that (for example you will take a day off in your work and take care of the child, while your wife will go to do the language test).

best luck there.
