Hello,

I have the points to obtain a residency in Canada, I'm from the UK a civil draughtsman, but I have a criminal conviction for assault occasioning bodily harm, which I picked up while travelling in Australia, I got a 12 month suspended sentence, this was 2 years ago.

If I tried to apply with my UK passport and didn't mention I was in Australia will this offence still show up ?

Or are all criminal records attached to your passport ?

Any advice would be welcome

If you try to hide this, it is going to come crashing down around you sooner or later.
At the very least, it would be misrepresentation. Canada does security and criminality checks beyond that which you declare...

legsdiamond,

sorry to say but at this moment you do not qualify to apply for a canadian permanent residence due to your criminnal offence.
in the application forms there is questions that ask if you have had any criminal offence,if you lied and answer no it will be considered misrepresentation which will make matters worse.
please note that canada run a background check including criminality and security so for sure they will find out.

once again sorry about the dissapointing answer and good luck :)

Agreed. You are inadmissible to Canada and this time and don't qualify to apply for PR. You will have to wait until 5 years have passed since your suspended sentence was completed.

And yes - assume Canada would find out about your charge. As others have said, this will result in a finding of misrepresentation and a two year ban from entering Canada (on top of already being inadmissible). Once CIC makes a finding of misrepresentation against you, any further applications you file will come under much greater review.
