I have a Canada PR. If a criminal case of adultery under section CrPC 497 is filed against me in India will this affect my PR? Adultery is not considered as a criminal offence in Canadian laws. Also if the case is filed but i am acquitted by the court, will it still affect my PR?

Section 497 in The Indian Penal Code, 1860 497.
Adultery.– Whoever has sexual intercourse with a person who is and whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the wife of another man, without the consent or connivance of that man, such sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape, is guilty of the offence of adultery, and shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both. In such case the wife shall not be punishable as an abettor.

Firstly you should have committed the adultry in Canada, atleast that way you wouldnt have a case against you. Now that you've already committed it you shouldnt worry about anything. Since you already have PR that should not affect your current status nor your citizenship. Goodluck

They won't even use adultery for divorce purposes here in Canada Don't worry you have your P.R.

Well, adultery is a criminal offence by the paramour in India which happens to be me. It is a civil offence for the husband or the wife but it is a criminal offence for the paramour

Yes but thats in India, you are a PR holder in Canada, save all your temptations for Canada, besides there is more diversity, choices and options to choose from here. Why settle for less?
