Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen carrying out a business in Canada. I have applied for my wife's sponsorship in JULY 2012. She had her fingerprinting done on APR 3rd 2013 at the New Delhi CHC. We have not heard anything after that. My wife is currently living in India. She had studied in Canada before marriage. She had a credit card in Canada that she could not pay back before coming to India. Could that be causing some problem in her background checks as we had not heard back anything from CHC yet? Please advise.

Thanks.

No - this won't affect her background check.

However she should pay back the money owing as soon as she returns to Canada. Otherwise this is going to affect her credit score (probably already has) and impact her ability to obtain other credits card and qualify for a loan/financing. Since you are now married, it will impact your credit score as well.

Her bad credit won't affect his credit unless they were joint on the card.
