CRA - Balance - Debit Balance - Does it affect sponsorship approval ?

Hi,

I have recently applied Sponsorship for my wife , yet to receive SA . I have CRA - Debit balance due to the Tax returns - reassessment for past year. I have to pay $***.** .

Just to know whether does that affect the Sponsorship Approval ?

I'm pretty sure it does not. When I filed my taxes for 2013, I owed $1300 to CRA, but I paid it off completely and sent in the receipt for that payment + the notice of assessment with my sponsor documents just in case it was an issue, so they can see that I don't owe the CRA anything.

Thanks. I have n't paid the amount yet. because i have filled for objection. I got the reassessment from CRA after i sent my Sponsorship App. Just curious , if i didn't pay when they finalise SA , will that affect my Apps ?

I've reviewed the list of things that would make you ineligible to sponsor and it doesn't say anything about back taxes barring you from sponsoring. so I think you're good to go.
