Hello all!
I am going to apply for common law with my girlfriend next May. We have started to prepare so everything should run as smooth as possible.
My girlfriend is a student for the next 3 years, so she has no income but she gets CPP Monthly Child Benefits (Canada Pension Plan), because her mother past away 2 years ago. Would the CPP be a problem for the application if she wishes to sponsor me? Would the CPP be considered social assistance and be a problem for the application?

Thank you,
Pascal

No - these benefits certainly won't be a problem. Your girlfriend can go ahead and sponsor you once you are common law.
