My common-law partner and I have been living in Europe for three years. He is Australian. We had planned to move to Canada this summer.
He applied for a Work Experience Program visa in January and was approved.
So I’m worried about his ability to get in the country. How could we prove we are common law? Any chance of the govt letting people with visas in soon?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The border restrictions are in place until at least the end of the month. Impossible for any of us to say if they will be extended or not.

Individuals who hold work permits can still travel to Canada provided they can prove their travel is essential. The same applies to individuals who have common law partners who are Canadian. The whole "essential travel thing" is a grey area. We've seen people in your situation be allowed to board the plane and other who haven't.

To prove you are common law you would need to show you have been living together for at least a year through evidence such as joint property ownership or joint leases, joint bank accounts, joint utility bills, etc.
