I was wondering if anyone can clarify two questions,

I am applying for skilled workers visa from australia,

1. Am i correct in assuming that i can send my initial application to Sydney(NS) and then do my IELTS exam before submitting final docs ? ( i have done IELTS before and had score of 8.5 so i dont think i`ll have any issues there)

2. Proof of fund is a tricky one for me i have approximate equivalent of 10000 CAN$ in saving, my monthly salary is around 6000 CAN$ ( After tax), iam required to show 13400$, will i be required to show funds when i submit my actual documents ( after AOR) or when the visa gets approved. Reason why i ask is that i will most likely send my final docs in 3 months, however i will be spending some of savings after the documents are submitted on a holiday :) , however i am sure that as the processing time is 2 years i wont have any issues when the actual residency gets approved, will this be an issue, do i have to maintain the balance from submitting the docs to actual approval ?

PS: Has anyone recently applied from australia, any ideas on processing times ( i have seen the ones listed on site).

1) yes, after NS replies, you get 120 days from the date of the receipt to send documents to the visa office. this is when you need the IELTS. So make sure you can book an exam time where you plan to sit for the exam. If you are Australian born and lived in Australia all your life, you probably don't have to do IELTS.

2) When you send your documents to the visa office, you have to show proof of the required amounts and then you need to show that proof when you enter as well (something like that). Everyone is expecting the processing time to be 6 to 12 months, regardless of where you apply from.
