Hello. My i received my degre in febuary n got my pgwp in march. Do u start counting from the date of the degree or pgwp. Thanx

Hey,

To work in Canada after graduating, your best option is to apply for a post-graduation work permit. Information on obtaining a work permit is available on CIC's website at cic.gc.ca/study. These permits may be valid for up to three years. There are no restrictions on the type of work you can do or where you do it, but to qualify for the CEC, remember that at least one year of your work experience must be in a skilled occupation (see “skilled work experience”).

If you have your pgwp before you graduate you can start working, I guess. However, in order to meeting CECs
requirements you can't count the time you work before your graduation.
Also:

It is also important to note that work experience you may have acquired as part of your academic program, such as an internship or a co-op placement, does not qualify under the CEC. Part-time work you may have performed during your studies does not qualify either.

Hope this helps.

work done after graduation on off campus wp will count under cec. you are good to go.i hve summited my file nd counted experiance after graduation asked cic customercare they confirmed with visa officer and send me mail.

operational bulletin op25a

Any period of employment during which the applicant was engaged in full-time study will not be included in calculating the period of qualifying work experience (e.g. work experience gained through co-op work permits, off-campus work permits while a full-time student[/b][/b], and on-campus work permits).

offcampus while a fulltime student means after graduation u become no longer full time student so u can work and experiance will count

Do they still count under student stream?? if yes, u have to wait for ur PGWP, if no, u can apply with off campus. I am not 100% sure, I guess u have to wait for senior members and don't just rely on newbie here.. just saying ;D ;D

There so no student stream in CEC now.

Be on the safe side, and count from the latter date (in your case count from PGWP-march date).

if you search in this forum, I remember there was a guy who got rejected after about 8 months because visa officer did not count the time he worked with an off-campus work permit..

So, only start counting from the day when you received your PGWP
