Hi guys,

OK situations is that I am I'm in Canada and will be getting PPR(spousal sponsorship) in few months hopefully.

My questions is would they request passport for visa stamping or scan copies of passport for sending me COPR.

I am here in Canada at student visa which is expiring soon but I have applied for visitor extension until I get PR. I have 10 years of US visitor visa. I am not from visa exempt country. my GCMS notes says that counterfoil not required.

Because you are in Canada and applied for an inland application. They have changed the rules and will no longer ask for the passport to put counterfoil visa. When your application reached the DM, (Decision made) They will send you a letter that this has happened and that you should wait for your local CIC office to contact you for the "landing" appointment. This is when you will have to bring your passport and all other documents, and during the landing appointment they will issue the copr. You do not have to cross the border anymore.

Now the waiting time after DM is depending on how busy you local CIC office is.

Bottom line is that's why they don't ask for PP anymore for visa counterfoil.
