GC account updated after passport sent for stamping. New status is Approved (naturally after an OPR). Counterfoil validity up to 31 Aug 2024 though my program actually ends Dec 2024. Can Study Permits get extended for those few months?

Is your passport valid for the entire program?

Yes... and beyond. I think they treated the application as though my intake was Fall 20 when in fact it was always Winter 21. I actually just read on the IRCC website that Study Permits can get extended while in Canada. Just intrigued to be honest.

Usually they should issue you SP for the entire program + 3 months = until February or March. Ask the officer on the border and explain your situation. To my understanding though, you need counterfoil to re-enter Canada, and study permit to legally remain. Just pay attention to the date on your actual SP

Ah OK, I got it (I think). What's actually stamped on the Passport is what allows you entry. The actual SP (which is what you get from the officer upon initial entry) is what allows you legal stay in Canada..and that will need to be valid for the duration of my program.
