My wife and step child arrived in Canada January 20'th to visit with me , as they have been here with me we have received our confirmation of permanent residents papers, my worry is that when they arrived in Canada the border officer marked there passports that they must leave in 3 months, my wife and step son are willing and able to stay here in Canada with me right now, our problem is the appointment time to see a border officer is 3 to 6 weeks just for them to contact us and give us an appointment time to have there copr papers signed,
My wife is from Cyprus so we can not just cross the border into the USA and come back because she would need a visa to cross into the US. Could someone please give me some advice on what we should do? Will there be problems if they stay longer than the 3 months before we can get the copr papers signed by a border officer? We are very stressed over this situation and would love to stay together now for good !! thank you to anyone who can give us some advice or help on our situation.

Did you make an appointment at one of the immigration offices? Because you don't need to make an appointment at the border......

It doesn't matter. Anybody can go to border to do PR landing. If they don't have proper US visa, just tell US immigration it's for a PR flagpole landing and they will turn her right back around to Canadian side to complete the landing.

Rob_To ,, are you sure on this ? It's a 10 hour drive for us to get to the US border and that is no problem at all if we know for sure we can get my wife and step son's copr papers signed ?

I second that, if you proceed to the US, they'll redirect you back to Canada and you can complete the landing process there. You may also be able to enter Canada Border Service Agency building from the Canadian side(foot paths even). If entering from the US, CBSA will ask you to park and enter the building where you will complete the landing process. I've don't this myself at the Buffalo/Forte Erie Border.

P.S. I'd attempt from the Canadian side first before attempting the US side, a lot has changes since Sept 11 and since Trump became president. Call CBSA and ask they'll let you know if it or what can be done. 1-800-461-9999

Best Regards.

Thank you everyone for your replies, we just don't want to drive for 10 hours to the US border just to be told we can not get our COPR papers signed because we did not enter the USA because my wife does not have a visa to enter the USA, I guess if it comes down to it we will have to make the drive and give it a try and hope for the best

Won't work. A person flagpoling at the border must actually leave Canada, either by entering the US or being refused entry.

People do it everyday. You just tell US CBP that you are flagpoling; they will issue administrative refusals and turn you around back to Canada to land.

Flagpoling at the US border DOES NOT REQUIRE A US VISA

Go to Niagra falls. Pass the bridge, and go to the american side. Tell them you are landing in Canada. They will give you a paper that they denied you entry because you did not intend to enter, go back to the Canadian Side, you landed. BINGO.

Works at any border point.

Also. Park in Niagra and do it walking. You will spend 50 cents per person and will not have any traffic delays.

that's what I did.

It all sounds good guys thank you !! But I have one more question that we are thinking of, if we make the 10 hour drive to the closest border to us that is in New Brunswick crossing over into Maine USA ,, will the Canadian border side stop us and see that my wife does not have a visa to enter the US and not let us even pass to get to the US border to do the flagpole turn around ?

Canada does not have any exit controls at the border, so you would not even speak to CBSA until you cross back into Canada.

Alternately, you could apply for an extension for their visa. They would be on implied status once received and you could make the appointment.
