Hi Friends, Let me give brief summary of my case. I am in US right now on H1 Visa and my wife is on H4(dependent) visa. I send initial application for FSW visa last week. I am willing to move to Canada in advance before i get PR on temp visa. So can I apply for student visa and move there while my PR file is still in process and My wife comes with me as dependent? I thought about this because I would be taking IELTS anyways for PR purpose which is also requirement in getting admission in Canadian universities.

Please also suggests me if you see any other options for moving to canada in advance.

Do the other way round...it'll facilitate better.

I am assuming you mean that I go to canada first as a student and than apply for PR from there.. Right? but I already applied for PR.

I'm in a similar situation. I think it doesn't make any difference in the process as you have to live 1 year in Canada before you can apply from there.

You will likely be denied a student visa. To get a non-immigrant visa you have to demonstrate that you have no intention of migrating to Canada.

Hi Den2Can,

I think you can. Of course you will get student visa if you prove that you are financially strong and you will have no problem to maintain your life without Canadian government help. I know one, who got student visa from US. His situation was exactly like you but he took admission in a college which was two year long Computer course. I am sorry, don't know whether you will get visa for studying IELTS.

Good luck.
