I am Canadian living in Holland with my Dutch husband (of 6 yrs) and two daughters. We are playing with the idea to move back to Canada (haven't started any paper work yet).
It says I have to have an income to sponsor family. Will I have to move there with out the family to start working?
How much does all of the paper work/ fee's cost to move?

When we do decide to make the move ... where/how do we start with all of the paper work?

Thanks for any help you can offer

If these are your kids and you were Canadian when they were born, they are Canadian too. You can go to the embassy and ask how to deal with that, temporary passport until you can get proof of citizenship for them or something like that. Getting a citizenship certificate for them can take 10 months, after that you can get them proper Canadian passports. You will not be denied for lack of income to sponsor your immediate family. You can start sponsorship of your husband from Holland but then you have to prove to immigration that you are planning to move to Canada when he gets PR. You can do this if you can show a job offer, acceptance to a university, real estate or rented property in Canada, something like that. Even getting statements from relatives saying they know of your plans and you have a place to stay with them can help. If you can not prove to immigration that you are planning to move to Canada, you can either go to Canada first, with or without the kids and settle before your husband comes or you can take him with you as a visitor but he can not work in Canada on a visitor status.

1. Spousal sponsors don't have to have an income to sponsor their spouses and dependent children. Were you a Canadian citizen when your children were born? If so, they they are also Canadian citizens, you can apply for proof through a Canadian visa office. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
2. Apply the information re: applying is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
