Hi all,

I applied for spousal sponsorship recently, with an OWP application included as well. It was received before May 18th, the expiry date of my work permit.

However, the May 18th expiry date had been an error, and about 6 weeks ago I had submitted an application to get a corrected permit (before applying for PR). I just got it in the mail yesterday, valid until June 19th.

What I would like to know is, do I have to send a copy of this new permit to CIC now? They have already received my PR application, with a work permit that was still valid when it was sent, so isn't that enough to get me implied status? Should I just ignore this new permit?

I really hope someone can help with this, I'm not sure what to do and it's making me worry!

You'll be fine but it would not hurt to send Vegreville a copy of the updated permit and ask them to add it to your file. Yes, you still have implied status once that new permit expires.

The new permit isn't actually an updated version of my previous permit, it's a new one, issued on May 22nd, valid until June 19th. Does this change anything?

No. It is connected to your old permit. It will be in the GCMS notes that it is a corrected permit with appropriate validity. Anyway, you're fine.

Okay, thank you for your help! :)
