Hi,

I was hoping that someone has relevant information about my situation and can help me out.

I have submitted my PR application in February 2021, but due to changes in my personal circumstances, I will need to move back home (Europe) in late August 2021 for 1-3 years. It is likely that my PR application will be approved when I am not staying in Canada anymore, and that I will be living and working in Europe when the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) will be issued.

Do you know what can I do in this case? Do you think that I can just fly back to Canada, get my actual PR in a few days and go back to Europe or how does this work?

Can someone please send me the appropriate link from the immigration's website?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bests,
Adam

If you’ve changed your residential address, you have to inform IRCC via webform. So by the time your application is approved, you’ll be treated as an Outland applicant and be asked to submit your passport to the local visa office for COPR issuance. You’ll be required to land in Canada to activate your PR status and apply for PR card.

Hi Noc98,

Thank you for your answer. Can you maybe answer these two questions:
1. How soon do I need to travel to Canada once the COPR is issued?
2. How long do I need to stay in Canada to get the PR (or at the least apply for it) before I can return back to Europe for this 1-3 year period?

Thanks,
Adam

1) it’s usually tied with your medical validity (1 year) - within 10 days of having your medical exam.
2) PR card? If I’m not mistaken, you do that during landing formalities and IRCC will ask you to submit photo and ask for a Canadian address where they’ll send the PR card.
