MY wife has just received her Confirmation of Permanent Residence and we are ecstatic. But now we have to make the appointment for confirmation and the toll-free number they give you offer no options for setting an appointment. I ended up using the webform after 40 minutes on hold listening to Kenny G.

I read on this forum that there is a place in Ottawa where you can just drop in and have it confirmed.
I am in Peterborough and am nearer to Ottawa than I am the Buffalo border to do the quick cross the border process. So this Ottawa option works for me.

All I know is it is in Ottawa, it is on the odd Tuesdays in the month and the hours. The person who posted all this information did not leave the details on where it is, or where to get info. If anyone could help me out in ANY way, please do.

Isn't Peterborough way closer to the USA border crossings just East of Kingston a bit?

Yes, there is the 1000 islands border crossing 40 mins east of Kingston.

there is also the ogdensburg, ny border that is only 45 min from ottawa. the 1000 island border (lansdown) is about 1.5 hours from ottawa.

Yep - either of those. Treat yourself to an overnight stay in downtown Kingston - really nice town in the spring / summer!

Thanks for that information, we have chosen to do this, but have a few questions

My wife will need her sponsor paper, passport and a picture.
I will need a copy of my lease, my passport and ...?

Also, can i just cross the border and then u turn (legally) and come back.

Thanks, Ed

the person landing as a pr only needs the COPR (approval paper), passport and declaration forms, if they are declaring items. A picture is not required. she sent her pictures for her pr card with her application and if they needed new pictures, these are generally requested with the passport request. why do you assume she needs a picture?

The sponsor is not involved in the landing procedure and does not need anything specific for it, so i am not sure why it is assumed you need a copy of your lease? all you need is your passport since you are driving to the us border.

when you get to the us border guard, you tell them you are "flagpoling" so your wife can land as a pr. they will issue an "administrative refusal" and turn you back towards canada. this administrative refusal has no affect on future border crossings into the us.

Your other option is to cross the border and spend time in the us, then land upon your return to canada.

Its my wife doing her research in Korean, while i do my research here. Her papers do have a picture included with them.
