Hello everyone. I have a question.
I'm a Canadian citizen living in Japan. We applied for a PR visa for my Japanese wife last year (in 2020) during the pandemic.
Today, we were issued a COPR with big really big problem: the expiry date is in two weeks.
I'm very confused. How could anyone possibly enter Canada that quickly? After thinking it over we realized that her passport expires in a month so perhaps that's why. So we're renewing her passport immediately. This is even more confusing because when we asked IRCC about a potentially expiring passport they basically stated that we shouldn't worry about it and we could just update it in the near future after getting her visa.... but now we end up in this situation where we have a mere 14 days to enter. Has anyone been in a similar situation before?
Also, because of the new rules regarding the pandemic, we've been asked not to contact IRCC using their Webform so we're quite worried that the expiry date will pass and we'll have to start the entire application over again and pay thousands of dollars. Is there anything at all we can do about this?
Thank you for your help.
