But remember, when you send/give information to CIC, your statements must also be aligned with the representative, means both representative and you need to be on the same page. It will be a problem if you say something and your representative say something else.
 
Yes that is true, it is just because he don't want to confuse Visa Officer by sending two different messages and he needs to be aware of what you are asking and sending them.
 
This is not a rule or a law but its for your own good. Lets say if you ask CIC something and start corresponding to them sending documents which your lawyer don't know about, then when he say something doesn't match with what you said to them - then you are going to have problem, that is why lawyers doesn't want you to contact CIC because they want to keep one channel of communication.

If it's just a matter of inquiry email, you can ask whatever you want, but just don't start giving information or updating documents without the knowledge of your representative.
