Consultant or by Myslef?

Hi,

I am currently on my work permit(expires on Dec 2015) and going to marry my gf this week who is a permanent resident of Canada. Next week we are going to apply for a spousal sponsorship(outland). I have a doubt, can we do it by ourself or do we need to get the help from any immigration consultants or lawyers. I heard that some of the consultants charge around 2000 to 5000 dollars for this.

unless you have a criminal or dependant issue, then there is no reason to get a consultant or attorney involved. save your money and use this forum to do your research and get questions answered. there is far more knowledge here than any consultant or attorney has. on top of the large fees, it is well known most give out really bad, mostly wrong, advice.

Thank you so much, that is what I am thinking because I don't have that much money too. Can you please give me a link which explains what to do (step by step) to apply for the spousal sponsorship(out land) within canada.

and then go to the cic website and print out the country specific guide and forms to fill out. there is no specific link with a step by step guide. you will need to read the information, and come back with specific questions, if you can't find the answer in your research.
