hello everyone. I am a PR for 8yrs now. I am planning to sponsor my partner under conjugal sponsorship. We have known each other since my partner was just 8years old. And he is now 22 years old. We are family friends. His mother and my mom are best of friends. And we live in the same community. Our relationships started when he was 18yrs old. He lives now in our house with my mom. I am 20 years older than him. Am I allowed to sponsor him under that category? Please help, I am now confused on processing the papers. Any response will be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Coniugal is for couple who CANNOT live together for religious/background/other reasons.
You would not qualify for that.
Your only way to sponsor him is either live together for NOT less than 12 months (common-law) or get married.
You can find all info on CIC website.
Good luck!

I’m not an expert in conjugal but maybe someone who went trought it before could advise if this is enough grounds for a conjugal application ?
I wish you the best of luck, surely you’ll find a way to have a life together ! :)

Thank you for your reply. We fall under Same gender relationships. And The country where he is now does not allow same gender marriages.
The 2 of you can go to a country that allows same sex marriage and get married. (New Zealand, Australia, US, Ireland, UK, etc.). Or your partner can apply for a TRV to visit you in Canada and you can marry there.

There is no barrier to you getting married, so conjugal is very likely to be denied.
