Hello All,

Being in a committed, long distance relationship, my partner is planning to come to Canada and visit by applying for a TRV. It's difficult for us to have joint accounts or ventures due to the distance.

What type of proof would be sufficient to prove the relationship we have?

Hello All,

When applying for a TRV, what is most important for applicants to show is strong ties to their country of origin such as employment, property ownership, and other assets. It's less important to show ties to someone in Canada. In fact, showing too strong ties to Canada can reduce the changes of approval and make IRCC concerned that the applicant has plans to remain in Canada long term.

In addition to showing proof of employment / property ownership / assets, the applicant should also show they have sufficient funds to pay for their visit to Canada. If they have travel to previous countries requiring visas such as the US and UK, they should show this as well.
