Good day people,

Items 9.C, 11 and 16 in the Citizenship Application form for Adults, have caused some confusion. Well, I have just come across Item 8.C, which asks for a Yes/No response to the following Question:

Did the parent leave Canada for more than 1 year before Feburary 15th, 1977?
(see instructions in the guide)

The way the question is worded, it is awkward to answer with a yes/no if the parent had not visited Canada before 15 Feb 1977. And answering NOT APPLICABLE may well create more confusion, as the instructions in the guide state: If the child's parent acquired Canadian citizenship after February 14, 1977, indicate "N/A (Not Applicable)".

Oh boy. I guess IRCC didn't do much testing.

Comments please, dpenabill and other seniors...

Or maybe you are just complicating a matter so simple...

Did you leave canada before february 15 1977? Yes or no?

They are not asking if you were here, if you were not here, then you couldnt leave, right? Its just logic.
