Hello everyone,

I finished my last course in June. I received my final grade about two weeks ago (late July). I have applied to graduate in October, however, I do not believe that my school has began processing these applications yet.

I have been working part time during the school term and full time during scheduled breaks for the last few years. My study permit is valid until September 2021 as I graduated early.

I will be applying for a PGWP once I receive my letter of graduation from my school. However, those might not come in for another couple of weeks. I know that I am required to stop working once I receive my letter of graduation as I will no longer meet the requirement. My current concern is whether I am legally allow to work between now and the time that I receive the letter of graduation? I am asking because I just receive an offer for a full time job at a law firm, which begins on September 1st, 2020.

Please advise. Thank you in advance.

You are not allowed to work full time, only part time until you receive the letter of completion. Then, you have to apply for PGWP before working full time

Hello,

Thank you for your prompt response. Would I be able to work full time right now since it is technically scheduled breaks? (summer)

Thank you.

Thank you.
This is a gray area. Technically, it is a not a scheduled break as you are due to finish your program. If you don't wanna take a risk then I would only work part-time

Understood. Thank you very much. Have a good week! :)

Request your school to provide the degree certificate (not needed for PGWP application), course completion letter and transcript urgently. One of my friend got it earlier when he requested for the same. You are likely to receive it well before 1st Sept if you request it tomorrow.
Simultaneously, draft the online application for PGWP and keep it ready for transcript and completion letter. Submitting online application won't take much time (even if you receive document on 31st Aug, you would be able to submit it online)

Hello,

Thank you for the response. I have contacted my school, and they have sent out my transcript. Hopefully I will get it by August 31, 2020. It's better to be safe than sorry! Thank you so much!

You're welcome. Ensure that you are receiving completion letter too. There were two separate drop box on online application : 'Education Transcripts' and 'Completion of Education Letters'.
