Confused on which form to fillout IMM 1283 or IMM 5481E

So I'm a Canadian Citizen living here in Canada and my fiance (soon to be wife) is a El Salvadorian Citizen who currently resides in El Salvador. I'm looking to sponsor her and her daughter who is only 5. As of now, I'm just collecting the required paperwork and making sure I have everything ready. Looking at all the required paperwork looks daunting lol so I'm sure I will have many more questions down the road but here is my question,

I'm looking to sponsor her and daughter, so what form should I filling out Financial Evalulation Form IMM 1283 or Sponsorship Evaluation IMM 5481E as I'm not quite sure. If her daughter comes at a later time, which document would it be then?.

Also, obviously she is no longer with the father of her child, he's not really involved at all with his daughter nor does he care about his daughter but do we need to get a letter from him saying it's okay for his daughter to leave the country?. If so, what if he refuses?. Any ideas or documents we may need to fillout regarding this?.

You really need to be reading the guide as you go, as that is clearly explained. Unless your 5 year old stepdaughter has a child of her own, IMM 1283 doesn't apply. From the guide:

Note: You must not use [IMM 5481] if you or your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner has a dependent child who has child of his own. You must complete a Financial Evaluation (IMM 1283).


Unless your fiance has court ordered full and complete custody of the child, then yes, she will need to obtain consent from the father to bring hte child to Canada. If he refuses, then she will need to go to court to obtain full custody of the child
