Hi!

I am currently having a hard time regarding if I will work during my semester this Fall.
I am current studying MBA Foundation course. As per my school. We are not allowed to work because we are still on the prerequisite program. But.. why is that the remarks in my student permit is just the same with the MBA students in my school?

Are you taking language course? What foundation course are you taking? Is it a degree program? Normally foundation courses that you need to pass before being accepted into a degree program don’t allow you to work. What is stated on your study permit and is the MBA program on the work permit or the foundation course?

Yes. I think I need to pass first the MBA foundation. For me to become full time student? So that I can work? I am really confused because this is my remarks in my study permit & same remarks with the MBA program.

May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria per paragraph R186(F), (V) or (W): must cease working if no longer meeting this criteria

Check with your university if you're considered a Full-time student. That's what R186(F) states. Also, did you apply for a SIN? What did the Service Canada officials say?

Yes I already apply SIN. And they gave me a SIN. How is that possible?

What program are you studying? What university is it? That information may make it easier for us to look up and check if you are a full-time student or not. International Students are not allowed to study part-time unless it is their last semester. So it is likely that the Foundation Course you're doing, is full-time.

MBA foundation. University Canada West.

It is possible the MBA foundation program is full-time. When you applied for your study permit, you had to submit a Letter of Admission from University of Canada West. What did that letter say? What is the duration of the program mentioned in that? How long is your study permit valid for?

My study permit is valid till June 2024.

Here is my LOA from the university

Program: Master of Business Administration
Preparatory study: Master of Business Administration foundation

You got the study permit for the entire program. Including the preparatory study period. Considering that your study permit has the line about R186(F), that is why you could get the SIN when you applied for it. In theory it means you can work 20 works a week off campus.

But, if your university says you cannot work during this preparatory study period. Then I suggest you talk to them and ask them, why you can't.
