Hi everyone,

Today I received a notification from CIC requesting me to send either my passport or copies of it to them so they can give me my confirmation of permanent residence.
In the letter, it says that applicants from countries who do not require a visa to travel to Canada are only required to submit a copy of their passport. Otherwise, mailing the physical passport to them will be necessary.
Having said that, I am from Brazil and in some cases we do not need a visa to travel to Canada. Individuals who have a valid US visa or have had a Canadian visa in the last ten years are eligible to get an eTA.
I have an eTA. However, I am unsure as to whether I should submit my passport or not.

Does anyone know what I should do? How long does it normally take until you get your passport back after you submit it?

Thank you all!

I would submit your passport in the event that it is required. Easier than submitting photocopy only to find later that a passport was required.

I am only a bit concerned because I have a trip booked for the end of next month and I am afraid I might not receive my passport back in time.
Do you know how long it usually takes for them to send it back?
