Conditional PR

Hi Guys,

I applied June 1, 2016 and still showing in online account that my background check is in process. Now, I know that people from March are getting their SAs now. I have a quick question. I am married for just over 1 year now and was in relationship with the person for bit more over 2 years. I am in Canada on Student status so did not apply for OWP. Do you guys think I am gonna get a conditional PR or have they started revoking the process as promised by the minister in Feb end? If so, will the processing time be longer in your view?

You will most likely get conditional PR, based on your marriage being less than 2 years old on the day that CIC received your application.

AFAIK, nothing has happened with the campaign promise, but...it's still not exactly clear what was meant when they said "to grant immediate PR to spouses and partners." Everyone knows that a person with Condition 51 on their COPR still has immediate PR the minute they land...just like everyone else.

@Ponga, I see, thanks for the info. Do you know anything about the conditional PR means delayed processing? Or will go as it was received if everything else is okay?
Last but not the least, If I move to US with my wife, I am still maintaining my status by being together right? When the time comes, I will still be able to renew the PR &/ get full PR after 2 years right? BTW, she is a citizen.

The only way that it would delay the process, is if CIC needs more proof of your relationship. Unfortunately, there's no way of telling.

Yes; if your wife is a Canadian citizen, the days that you live abroad with her, will count towards your Residency Obligation requirement to maintain your PR status.

FYI, after 2 years the Condition 51 just disappears (automatically). Even with the condition, you will have `full PR'.
