My daughter is applying for her student visa and is unsure if she needs to include a letter of invitation in her SOP from her cousin who she will be staying by in Canada or if she needs to mention it in her SOP.

I agree with @selvakk , it’s not required to mention that in SOP.

But I would just like to share my experience. I mentioned in my SOP that I will stay with my brother-in-law during my study and included his letter stating the same. Again, it’s not required, but in my case it may have helped in my application.

OK so would her cousin need to do up a letter of invitation to the visa officer stating that she would be accommodating my daughter or she needs to write a letter to my daughter inviting her and stating she would accommodate her during her studies?

My brother-in-law’s letter is address to the Canadian embassy at my country, stating that he will provide me with accomodation. He included a scanned copy of his Canadian passport as proof of identity.

Is it possible you can guide my daughter a bit as to how it should be done? Her email is ansunasingh1995@gamil.com. Thank you very much.

It’s quite easy. Her cousin needs to write a letter to the embassy stating that cousin will provide accommodation. This letter sent to applicant either via courier or emal. Then applicant attaches this letter to application.

Mine was a scanned copy sent to me via email. I then printed this and attached to my paper application
