Hi

we moved here in december on my husbands work visa ... it was done under intra-work transferee under specialized knowledge so he has a work visa as a manager (has been a technician in the uk for several years before becoming a manager for 2.5 yrs previous to coming here) to the wind farm company exclusive he can work for i have a spouse work visa and can work for whoever... husbands son is under him on a study visa thing but its just they wrote in his passport so unable to work at all... our visas run out in dec 2016 ...

So in dec 2014 we would have been here a year and him working for that long here... so was told we can apply for PR but to do it ourselves not through a company...

So now we get told by someone that if his skill/job is on a list he gets AUTOMATIC PR by a friend... of course i am so not convinced so have been trying to find more info and trying to ring the cic but always get cut off... does anyone have more info or best place to look...

we DEF want to get PR as soon as we can the right way but just are bait clueless as to how we go about that ... we had all the forms to look over to fill out for December 2014 but should we hold off till jan 2015 ... please help if you can ...

Also another question is we are going to apply for PR for hubbys boy who is 17 next month but we read that he has to have consent from his mum... however she kicked him out and has refused contact with him for several years he now has nothing to do with her unfortunately so getting this seems unlikely ... is it a must we have to get?

Thanks in advance for any direction or help on these matters :)

1. "Someone" doesn't know what they are talking about. There is no automatic Permanent Residence.
2. Once your spouse has 1 year skilled work in Canada, he can apply under the CEC program: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-how.asp
3. Your spouse's son to emigrate is going to have to have permission from his mother to remove him from the UK (I assume) unless his father has sole custody and the ability to remove the child from the UK. There is no getting around this. If not, the father is going to have to go to court to get a custody order.
4. You probably should apply as soon as you have the 12 months, as no one knows how the Express Entry is going to affect the CECs.
5. Note your spouse has to have his language test to include with the application.
